Leather

Water resistant full-grain leather. Our leather comes from the top layer of the hide, which has all of the grain and has not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed. The natural surface of full grain leather burnishes and beautifies with use.

Other leathers like top grain or corrected undergo complex treatment processes to remove imperfections (or natural marks) on the surface of the hide. These treatments result in weaker leather that will not wear as well. We use only full-grain leather because of its minimal treatments, uncompromising durability, and greater breathability.

Hardware

YKK zippers and 100% brass hardware throughout every bag.

Patina

A Blue Claw Co. bag may arrive with a few small blemishes and imperfections; don’t fret, those "beauty marks" just accentuate its unique character and personality. By using full-grain leather, some leather has parts of the cow's brand here and there. Test your bags toughness; it'll look better.

Stiching

Double reinforced handle attachment to ensure maximum lifespan. Attached by diamond stitch and rivet.

Waxed Canvas or Nylon

Thick, tough synthetic ballistic nylon fabric.

History Lesson: The term ballistic comes from its original intention as a bulletproof material that would protect soldiers from flying debris caused by bullet and artillery shell impacts in WWII. This military grade nylon is water resistant and will last for 1,000,000 miles.
